Whether you are a seasoned DIY-er (is that a word?), or you don’t even know what those letters stand for…this project is for you. All you need is five minutes and five ingredients to create these adorable little jars of homemade sugar scrub. You can give them as gifts to your friends, co-workers, your child’s teachers, or just set out a jar to display in your own bathroom.
What You’ll Need…
Like I said, there are only five simple ingredients to make this sugar scrub.
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup Epsom salt
- Essential oils
- Liquid coloring (you can use food coloring or soap coloring)
What You’ll Do…
Step One: Mix the dry ingredients.
Pour the Epsom salt into the bowl of sugar and mix them with your hand or a spoon.
Step Two: Mix the liquid ingredients.
Pour approximately 6-8 drops of your favorite essential oil and 8-10 drops of the food coloring into the coconut oil and mix with a spoon. I found that mixing the liquid ingredients first makes it much easier to disperse color throughout the mixture (otherwise it tends to “clump”).
Step Three: Mix the dry and liquid ingredients together.
Sooo…that’s pretty self-explanatory. Just be sure to mix the ingredients really well in order to get the desired consistency of your sugar scrub.
Step Four: Put that cuteness in a jar!
Find some decorative jars (like these adorable glass jars or even some simple mason jars) to display your sugar scrub.
Step Five: Make it pretty.
Dress it up by adding some twine or ribbon. Want printable tags? Sign up for my mailing list to download the free printable! I have created six tags that coordinate with these essential oils along with two teacher tags – one for the beginning of the school year and one for the end.
See? How easy was that?! Now that you’re a pro at this homemade DIY crafty thing, take it a step further by reading this post on how to create your own bath bombs. You already have four out of the five ingredients!
